The Companye of Merrie Folke present their Tudor Fayre with many stall holders gathered at Ingatestone Hall.

Greetings visitor.  Welcome to Ingatestone Hall in the year of Our Lord 1553.  'Tis May, and once again Lord Petre has graciously allowed that the folk from the village may celebrate May with their annual Fayre.  There will be much merriment, with music and dancing, divers crafts from the common folk and even puppet shows for the young and the young-at-heart.

For those stout of heart, and over 12 summers, there is Ned who will mayhap give instruction on the use of the English longbow.  The Barber Surgeon and Cunning Man will also be present to help with ailments should any be ill or suffering an ache in the tooth.  However, a great rumour is about the place, as it has been said that some high-born gentry folk are staying as guests of Lord Petre, prior to travelling to London for a great celebration.  Who could these gentry folk be? What occasion will they be celebrating in London? Mary the gamester (renowned for being a great gossip, yet seldom right) is telling folk that the old King's daughter Mary Tudor herself is among the visitors.  Could she be right? It is hoped that visitors will find out who the visitors are and let the commoners know, for many of these low born souls are wagering good ale on their identities.
